WHAT IS THE WELLNESS WALK?

Now in its eighth year, the Wellness Walk is the creation of Larry Smith. Larry started up the Wellness Walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge after participating in the NAMI Walks over New York's Brooklyn Bridge in support of mental health and fighting stigma. The NAMI Walk now takes place in more than 80 locations across the USA. 

The walk is a family-friendly event to raise awareness of severe and complex mental illness and promotes walking as a way to improve mental wellbeing. The act of walking is an opportunity to reflect that recovery is a step-by-step, one-step-at-a-time experience. 

This annual fixture in the NSW events calendar embraces diversity and boasts a strong sense of community so that together we can make a difference.

The event is a collaborative project and we welcome all mental health organisations to become charity partners.  Expanding collaboration with partners contributes to a positive impact and is an essential component of the event.
