We Want You!!!
Do you like to get involved and make a difference? Could you be a Wellness Walk volunteer?
On Sunday 16 October hundreds of people will take part in the Wellness Walk across Sydney Harbour Bridge. ESSENTIAL to the success of the walk are its volunteers! As a volunteer you’ll receive: a free t-shirt, a snack pack, bottled water, sunscreen along with a Thank You letter and Certificate of Appreciation.
Volunteer roles on the day include:
You will be located strategically along the 5km and 2 km routes. Course Marshalls are required to direct, encourage and cheer participants, advice upon approaching hazards and form an important part of the communications network. Support is provided to these volunteers by a Course Manager. There will be a Bicycle Emergency Response Team (BERT) available to provide first aid to walkers and volunteers if there are any injuries or emergencies.
You will be required to put together the windmills and hand these out to walkers prior to the walk commencing. This is a great opportunity to meet walkers and welcome them to the event.
You will be assisting to sell merchandise items. Merchandise items include t-shirts, caps, water bottles and wrist bands. The merchandise station will have a merchandise manager who will be able to assist with any tricky enquiries.
Hydration Pit Stop
Set up and maintain the water bottle station and provide participants with one bottle of water before and on their return from the walk.
It’s time to spread some cheer as we welcome and cheer all walkers as they cross the finish line. You will be provided with pom poms, signs and clappers to help encourage create a festive and fun atmosphere. This is a super fun volunteer role and works well when you’re cheering with a group of friends.
Medal Distribution Station
Upon walkers completing the course, volunteers in this station will hand each walker a medal for completing the walk. It will be a great chance for you to congratulate all those who jumped on board and participated in the Wellness Walk. Volunteers will need to assist with unwrapping and setting up the medals.
There will be interactive Instagram booth and we would love as many people to take part by using the Instagram prop and hashtag to take photos. All photos taken with #wellnesswalk will print automatically at the booth. Your role is to encourage people to take photos and pick up their printed copies at the Instagram booth stand.
You will be assisting our Information stand team leader with answering queries on the day. These queries may include information about amenities, festival timetable, course route and information on mental health programs and services. Don’t panic, if you get stuck the information booth team leader is always happy to assist our volunteers.
